KY-SCI has no issue with the changes outlined in KAR 2:095. Once voted on at the LRC it will replace KAR 2:095E, which was an emergency regulation change signed by the Governor. The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR) did not want to wait until the end of deer season to enact this change. The LRC hearing would not have been until February of 2019, so they asked the Governor to sign KAR 2:095E in December.
Again, this regulation change prohibits the importation of cervid parts in order to prevent the possible importation of CWD. We realize many of our members and hunters throughout the Commonwealth hunt across the state line in one of our adjoining sister states. It is now a crime to bring certain parts of those deer back home to Kentucky. Please take the time to read and understand your responsibilities in preventing the spread of CWD.
